The ‘never-ever’ story

I was quite convinced I could never write.

While growing up, watching TV and reading comic books was my favourite pastime. So the thought of writing — even a 100 word article — would result in raised eyebrows popping right out of my forehead. “I can do everything in the world, except write.”

A couple of years ago when I was applying for various scholarships to study abroad, I tried maintaining a blog but that too fizzled out just like my university dreams. Though I always loved to read, I was convinced that I was never going to be on the other side of the desk, or in this case, the other side of the book.

Then again, one says ever so wisely “never say never” for a certain reason.

Here I am, working at a media house where many a times one has to churn out 350 to 400 words copy within 30 minutes. AND, I have been in this profession for the past four years. Look where the ‘never’ got me.

Hmm, I think I should now start with the “I can never learn how to swim”.
