(18) Key to my heart

Source: thebridaldetective.com

The prayer was:
“To seal my heart and throw away the key…
to open the lock when The One came by.”

Years went by,
the lock gathered dust,
the key became rusty
and the hope of the wait ending, never ending.

Then you came along,
you opened the locks
and threw the key away, once in for all.
Safe is how the tiny-beating heart feels,
caged for long, it is finally free.

The prayer has now turned into a question —
“How did I get so lucky?”
